About mantispy#
mantispy brings Cell Painting and other image-based profiling data into the scverse ecosystem, from reading what a pipeline wrote through quality control, normalization and batch correction to evaluating what survived.
Profiles live in an AnnData, so scanpy’s PCA, neighbors, UMAP and Leiden work on the same object, and the images and segmentations behind them are read as SpatialData.
If you find mantispy useful for your research, please check out Citing mantispy.
Why is it called mantispy?#
mantispy is named after the mantis shrimp, whose eyes carry up to 16 types of photoreceptor where ours carry three. A Cell Painting screen, too, looks at every cell through more channels than an eye would.
